THE ATELIERHAUS

At the Atelierhaus in the Kühlhaus Kolonie, you can combine creative work and vacation. The studio house offers you studios equipped with work and sleeping areas. Here you can work in peace and find the concentration you need for your projects. The view of the greenery and the natural surroundings promote inspiration. The exchange with other creative people is a central part of our concept – cooking together in the communal kitchen, exchanging ideas and developing new projects.

ON TWO FLOORS

YOUR STUDIO

In the Atelierhaus you will find 12 studios, each with a work area and a cozy sleeping floor. Whether you want to finish an illustration project, write a book or work on a graphic design project, our studios are the ideal retreat. In the studio house, you will find functionally furnished rooms designed with lots of wood. Each studio has a comfortable double bed and its own desk. It is designed as a single room, so you have your own personal space. And of course, high-speed internet is available to keep you connected and working smoothly.

AROUND THE OLD INDUSTRIAL SITE

THE AREA

The Kühlhaus is located on the outskirts of Görlitz. You can reach Lake Berzdorf by bike in just 10 minutes and the old town of Görlitz in 20 minutes. So you can make the most of your creative break and explore the beautiful surroundings. For those arriving by train, our studio house is easily accessible via its own stop (Görlitz-Weinhübel). In addition to our leisure activities, exciting discoveries on the grounds and activities in our workshops can enrich your stay. Meetings, communal dinners or sitting around the campfire with other creative people are also an opportunity to “take time out”.

COOK

Adjacent to the group room is an open, fully equipped communal kitchen. Here you can socialize, prepare delicious meals and fortify yourselves for the next productive (working) day.
For those who don’t want to cook for themselves, we recommend the Obermühle team catering (regional and organic).

AROUND THE OLD INDUSTRIAL SITE

THE AREA

The Kühlhaus site offers plenty of space to work but also to relax. Right next to the studio building is the pavilion, which we have kept open all around and equipped with plenty of seating and work facilities. During the day, workshops and group formats can take place here in summer. In the evening, guests from the campsite and garage hostel meet the users of the studio house in the pavilion. People can cook and dance, work and chill out in the pavilion.
Kühlhaus Görlitz e.V. and other organisations use the Kühlhaus site for their own events and socio-cultural projects. There are always concerts, workshops or parties, to which everyone is of course invited. There is a lot to discover on the entire site!

the surrounding area

The Kühlhaus is located on the outskirts of the European city of Görlitz-Zgorzelec. You can be in the old town of Görlitz in 3 minutes by train or 20 minutes by bike. The European City Bridge connects the German and Polish parts of the city. There is a lot to discover on both sides. Museums, restaurants and cafés invite you to enjoy the very special atmosphere.

For a short trip, you can reach the Zittau Mountains and Liberec in the Czech Republic via our railway station.

And if you want to clear your head quickly, it’s worth taking a trip to Lake Berzdorf, which is just 10 minutes by bike from the Kühlhaus. The local recreation area offers many small bays for swimming or relaxing in the sun.

WORKATION

How to get there

The Cottbus-Zittau railway line borders the site of the cold store. A train stops here every hour at the Görlitz-Weinhübel stop, just a 3-minute journey from Görlitz station. Coming from Cottbus and Berlin, you can simply stay seated at the main station – from Dresden and Leipzig, however, you will have to change trains once.

From Görlitz city centre, the tram will take you to the Weinhübel terminus in 15 minutes. From there it is another 15 minutes on foot. You can cycle along the Neisse river from the Görlitz Old Town Bridge in around 20 minutes.

GOOD TO KNOW

DO YOU WANT TO USE THE ATELIERHAUS?

The studio house is a place for creative work in the broadest sense. For tourist stays, please use the other accommodation options on the premises, such as the garage hostel, the safari tents or our campsite.

As a workspace for creative people, the studio house is NOT equipped to accommodate children. Make full use of your stay and the child-free time for your creative projects.
